Yuuki Tomosane (悠木 皆守) is the protagonist of the Jabberwocky I and Jabberwocky II chapters, and the protagonist of the story as a whole. The strongest fighter in the school and Mamiya Takuji's bully. His perspective unravels all the mysteries within the story. His real name is Mamiya Tomosane.
Appearance[]
Tomosane has flowy black hair with bangs that cover his left eye, and intense black eyes. He wears the Kita High male uniform with the top buttons undone and his shirt tucked out, his style of dress and his glare giving him the look of a delinquent.
Personality[]
Tomosane has a harsh and abrasive personality. Known as the strongest fighter in school, he often bullies and intimidates Mamiya Takuji and the other thugs at school with his strength. Often extorting Takuji out of his money, and the thugs out of drugs they acquire.
He's cold to and acts annoyed by Minakami Yuki and Mamiya Hasaki, the two who are the closest to him, in order to drive them away and keep a wall erected between himself and any sort of human attachment. However, this is all a front put on by Tomosane to hide his fears. He is an alternate personality of Takuji assigned the role of The Destroyer, meant to kill Takuji and then be wiped out of existence himself. This role makes him fear forming any attachments while he's still in this world, because he assumes it'll lead to nothing but hurt in the end.
His bullying of Takuji is also born out of fear, knowing how much control Takuji has over him, being able to wipe him out at any second he pleases.
Tomosane is actually a rather caring and determined person who'll do anything to protect people he cares about once his guard is down, playing the role of "The Hero" for Hasaki.
We can see his abrasive front start to wane as time goes on, finally dropping the front near the end of Jabberwocky II completely and being honest with himself. We can see that he's reached the ability to be completely honest with himself in Knockin' on Heaven's Door, openly confessing his feelings for Yuki without any restraint or embarrassment.
He often plays the straight man for the people around him, including Hasaki, Yuki and Master.
Plot[]
Tomosane is born as the third personality in the body after the erasure of Mamiya Tomosane. He surfaces after Mamiya Takuji is sexually assaulted by a few of his bullies, as soon as he's born, he nearly beats the bullies to death after he sees what they've been doing.
Soon after, he gets acquainted to Yuki and filled in on their situation. Though his raison d'être comes to him immediately, alongside basic and technical memories like his way around town, he lacks any proper memories before his birth.
Over the course of the next few months, he tries to distance himself from Yuki and Hasaki, but they end up forming a bond regardless.
Upon Takashima Zakuro's suicide, Tomosane realizes that the time for him to fulfill his role has come, despite Yuki saying otherwise. He has many different encounters with Takuji, and although he manages to come out victorious in most of them, Tomosane's fear of Takuji grows as Takuji's control and power grows all the more. Yuki almost gets erased, forcing Tomosane to admit he did care for her and missed her, and that he hadn't been successful in detaching himself from Yuki and Hasaki.
Eventually, he begins experiencing large memory gaps, with days going by without his personality surfacing. After a defeat against Takuji, he's pulled into a lucid dream with Yuki, the dream set inside the backdrop of Sawaimura. Inside the dream, Yuki teaches Tomosane how to fight, the techniques to defeat an existence like Takuji, an alternate personality.
Once Tomosane awakens, Kimura leads him to Hasaki who's at the bar. He takes on Master in a fight and wins, proving himself. After a moment with Hasaki, he sets off to have his final confrontation with Takuji.
Despite his best efforts, Tomosane is beaten by Takuji, who is now too powerful and unwilling to be erased.
On his defeat, he's sucked into the past, regaining the memories of who he was as Mamiya Tomosane, and the truth behind everything. After a talk with Yuki, Tomosane awakens in his body mid-fall right after Takuji jumps on July 20th, with Hasaki holding on to him. Depending on the ending, Tomosane manages to survive with Hasaki, or their fate is unknown.
Hill of Sunflowers[]
Tomosane heads back to Sawaimura with Hasaki, and Yuki makes her return, the only ones being able to see her being Tomosane and Hasaki. Instead of replacing Tomosane's consciousness with hers like she used to, however, she manifests like a ghostly presence and joins Hasaki and Tomosane's new wonderful everyday. It is unclear whether this Yuki is a shared delusion between Tomosane and Hasaki, or the actual ghost of Minakami Yuki.
Wonderful Everyday[]
After the incident, Hasaki and Tomosane enjoy a somewhat normal life together despite the repercussions of what happened. At the end, Tomosane has a conversation with Kimura about his place in the world and the meaning of life at the riverbank. He continues leading his everyday life.
Knockin' on Heaven's Door[]
in the after story, Knockin' on Heaven's Door, Tomosane and Yuki are seen leading a 'normal' life together, Tomosane fully having grown into an adult and going to work. Yuki follows Tomosane around the entire day as they have various conversations with each other where Yuki pesters Tomosane to find someone to spend the rest of his life with, which Tomosane is vehemently against due to his feelings for Yuki. At the very end, both of them finally accept their feelings towards each other, and they both promise to stay with each other forever.

Minakami Yuki[]
Tomosane encounters Yuki for the first time a few minutes after he finishes beating up the bullies on the day of his birth. Yuki's tendency to constantly tease him and rile him up surfaces during their very first meeting, as they have a fight where Yuki messes around with him all the way through. Eventually, she fills him in on the situation and nature of his existence.
When Tomosane was Mamiya Tomosane, his bond with Yuki was practically identical. Despite how she teases him and gets on his nerves constantly, he cares about and loves her a lot, Tomosane's nonchalant attitude finally breaking down in Jabberwocky when he starts shedding tears at the thought that Yuki had been replaced with the new Yuki for good, and that she would never come back.
She's also the one to bring him back and give him the final push to go save Hasaki at the very end of Jabberwocky 2.
In the Knockin' on Heaven's Door after story, Yuki and Tomosane live together and end up officially becoming a couple, deciding to stay by each others side forever.
Mamiya Hasaki[]
Originally Hasaki's half-brother. When he returns as the alternate personality Yuuki Tomosane, his relationship with Hasaki is significantly different from his relationship with her as Mamiya Tomosane. He keeps trying to distance himself from Hasaki in order to avoid hurting her when he dies, but this doesn't prevent them from getting attached to and loving each other. At the end of Jabberwocky, Tomosane comes to terms with the fact that he loves and truly cares about Hasaki, finally throwing away his pretenses and being honest.
His main motive to defeat Takuji is to protect Hasaki. At the end of Jabberwocky II, he reawakens, determined to save Hasaki, as they both fall from the roof of Building A. In the Wonderful Everyday ending, both of them survive and start living a somehow normal and happy life together, becoming a couple.
Mamiya Takuji[]
Tomosane and Takuji are enemies, Tomosane's very existence being the harbinger of destruction for Takuji and vice versa. Their hatred for each other carrying on even after the real Takuji and the original Tomosane personalities death.
The new Takuji and Tomosane continue to be enemies, with Tomosane being his bully. Takuji is afraid of Tomosane, but Tomosane is the one truly afraid of Takuji due to Takuji having the power the erase his existence at any second.
After many confrontations between them, Tomosane and Takuji have their final battle on the roof, a fight that Takuji wins. But soon after Takuji jumps off the roof on July 20th, Tomosane manages to come back and take control of his body once again.
Master/Minakami Toshio[]
Master is Tomosane's martial arts instructor, his employer at the bar, and the person who acted as a parental figure to him and Hasaki after Yuki and Takuji's deaths.
Although Master gets under Tomosane's nerves a lot, Tomosane respects him for his strength, and Master cares for him like a father would a son.
Takashima Zakuro[]
Zakuro only truly becomes acquainted with Tomosane in the Kimika End of Looking-glass Insects. Tomosane, Zakuro and Kimika form a sort of friendship and even eat lunch together, despite getting off to a rocky start. When Zakuro and Kimika are cornered by the bullies, Tomosane comes to their defense and saves them.
In the Looking-glass Insects End, Tomosane only interacts with Zakuro once, to return her stolen clothes to her.
Tachibana Kimika[]
Tomosane only meets Kimika during the Kimika End of Looking-glass Insects. Their relationship gets off to a bad start, with Tomosane and Kimika instantly getting into a fight with each other and Tomosane stealing her weapons.
Eventually, though they still constantly get on each others nerves and fight, they form a frenemies relationship where they begrudgingly get along amidst the constant fighting. Zakuro, Kimika and Tomosane even eating lunch together.
When Zakuro and Kimika are cornered by the bullies, Tomosane comes to their defense and saves them.
Kimura Nobukatsu[]
Kimura is a photographer and journalist investigating the Kita High incidents. After he follows Tomosane around and gets found out by him, Tomosane threatens him to stay away. He ends up making acquaintance with Hasaki however, and ends up helping Tomosane by taking him to Hasaki after he reawakens after a long absence.
Trivia[]
- Tomosane is one of the few Subahibi characters who doesn't exist in Tsui no Sora, alongside Hasaki and Kimika.
- Tomosane was originally unvoiced in the early edition of the game. The Full Voice HD edition finally gives him a voice.
